“We shall never achieve harmony with the land, anymore than we shall achieve absolute justice or liberty for people. In these higher aspirations the important thing is not to achieve but to strive.”
- Aldo Leopold
As an artist and steward of the land, my work endeavors to unravel the nuanced entanglements of the American West. Oscillating between temporal strata, I explore the dichotomy of tradition and progress, with an emphasis on the ecologically charged narrative of land stewardship in the throes of modern environmentalism.
My artistic praxis serves as an allegorical lens, refracting the ongoing saga of contemporary cowboys as stewards of the land, navigating the intersection of cultural heritage and ecological imperatives. Within this dialectic, my pieces become a confluence of pastoral vistas and eco-critical discourse, inviting the viewer to traverse the nuanced terrain of identity, resilience, and environmental consciousness.
I acknowledge that I inhabit ancestral Apache, Pueblo, and Diné lands.
